Places to play

Creating safe places to play is a big part of what The Arsenal Foundation does.

New pitches offer a community focal point and a safe place for young people and disadvantaged groups to play. They help foster a sense of team work and give participants a purpose.

We have worked with a range of partners to refurbish pitches across north London in recent years. Located in housing estates, schools and run down sports grounds, the pitches are often used by Arsenal in the Community to deliver football programmes that deliver meaningful social change. Attracted by the chance to play football, many participants have gone on to gain qualifications and even full-time work through a number of Arsenal in the Community’s domestic programmes.

Using the expertise and experience we’ve gathered from our local football projects, we are now working with Save the Children to develop pitches internationally. We have built football projects Iraq, Indonesia, Jordan and Somalia.
